Praxis Test

This is the last post about me for a long time, I promise! It's not often that a Mom has to take a written test, but that is what I did about a month ago at Weber State. In order to keep my teaching certificate current, I have to take classes and tests, etc. and renew my license every three years. So.... this time around I decided to finally take the Praxis test. (I've been putting it off for about 6 years now.) This test covers areas in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
I was surprised to get an envelope a couple of weeks ago with a folder in it that said 'Excellence' (pictured above) on it. Inside, was a certificate and a letter saying that I scored in the top 15% of all test takers that have taken the test! I know that it's not genius level or anything, but as a stay-at-home mom, I'll take what I can get!
The certificate said: "Your exceptional performance earned a score that ranks within the top 15% of all test takers who took this assessment in previous years. This achievement indicates a high level of proficiency in an area critical for professional educators."
Honestly, I'm just glad I passed- I was worried about wasting the $130 I had to pay just to take it! Alrighty, so there you have it. Like I said, that's the last post about me for a LONG time.... we will return to our regularly programmed posts all about A and B and T, thank you!

Congrats! That's great news! And I should probably know how to keep my license current too. I think mine expires this year. Dang it! Please say I don't have to take a $130 test too!!

That's wonderful Heather! There's nothing bad about putting some of our own personal achievements on our blogs. I'm so glad that you did post this so I can congratulate you on your geniusness! That is wonderful that you did so well, now you need to do the teaching! Every school should have a Mrs. Ryan to help our future generation!!!;) Congrats!

You gals are so nice! Shelley, I found some really awesome and FREE courses 3 years ago through UEN to renew my license. One class I took at the U was a 2-day course and it cost $15 to get 3 college credits! You don't have to take the test until you want to become a "highly qualified teacher" and the bad news is, the other Praxis test they require is an essay test. I think I'll do that one in another 3 years.
